Yes, you can find influencers and UGC creators for free. Instagram search, TikTok search, Google search operators, AI assistants and the free plans or trials of paid tools will all give you a list of names at $0. What free methods do not give you is reliable audience country data, a fake-follower check or verified contact details, so the cost moves from your budget to your calendar. In the ranges we see, a manual shortlist of 20 checked creators takes 6 to 12 hours. This guide covers each free method, how to use it, what it misses, and the point where paying is cheaper than your time.
We make Hypein, an influencer and UGC creator platform for MENA, so weigh this guide with that in mind. We list the free methods first because for many small brands they are enough.
What does "free" actually cover?
Every free method below does one job well: it surfaces names. Finding a name is the easy part. The hard parts are checking that the followers are real, that the audience lives in the country you sell to, and that you can reach the creator. Free tools leave most of that to you.
- Free and good: finding creators by keyword, hashtag, location tag and niche; watching their recent content; reading comments.
- Free but slow: estimating engagement rate by hand, spotting bought followers from comment quality, finding an email in a bio.
- Usually not free: audience country and city breakdowns, follower quality scores, verified contact details, bulk outreach and tracking.
Which free methods work, and how do you use them?
1. Instagram search and hashtags (Arabic and English)
Instagram is still the first stop for most MENA brands. It is free and it shows you the content itself, which no database replaces.
- Search keywords, not only hashtags: "Dubai skincare", "Riyadh food", "UGC creator UAE". Instagram keyword search now returns accounts and Reels.
- Run the same search in Arabic. Try terms like "مدونة جمال" (beauty blogger), "صانع محتوى" (content creator) or a city name in Arabic. Many Gulf creators caption only in Arabic and never appear in English searches.
- Open location tags for malls, neighbourhoods and venues your customers visit. Creators who post there often live there.
- On a good profile, check the "Suggested for you" accounts. Instagram groups similar creators together.
- Save candidates to a Collection or a spreadsheet with handle, follower count and three recent Reel view counts.
Limits: no audience country data unless the creator shares an Insights screenshot, no way to filter by follower range, and hashtag pages favour big accounts. Many profiles that look local have audiences mostly outside the Gulf.
2. TikTok search
TikTok search works best for UGC creators, because you can judge hooks, voice and editing in seconds.
- Search niche plus city ("Jeddah cafe", "Abu Dhabi mum") and switch to the Users and Videos tabs.
- Filter Videos by "This month" to find creators who are active now.
- Search the formats you want to buy: "UGC skincare review Arabic", "unboxing Saudi".
- On a creator profile, compare views across the last 10 videos. One viral hit with flat views around it is a weaker signal than steady numbers.
Limits: no audience location, no contact data beyond what is in the bio, and the For You algorithm mixes creators from every country, so many results are outside your market.
3. TikTok One
TikTok closed its old Creator Marketplace to new campaigns on 1 March 2025 and moved brands to TikTok One from 1 April 2025. You reach it with a TikTok for Business login, and it includes creator discovery alongside ad and production tools. TikTok's help pages say creators can join only if TikTok One has launched in their country or region, and they do not publish a full country list. Whether searching is free for your account depends on your market and ad setup, so log in and check before you plan around it.
Limits: you only see creators who opted in, coverage in the Gulf varies, and it covers TikTok only.
4. Instagram creator marketplace (Meta)
Meta's creator marketplace lets brands search creators who opted in, filter by attributes and audience, and send projects to several creators at once. Brands reach it through Meta Business Suite. Meta's own announcements list a 2022 US test, then Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the UK, Japan, India and Brazil in February 2024, and ten more countries in May 2024 (Argentina, France, Germany, Indonesia, Israel, Mexico, the Netherlands, South Korea, Spain and Turkey). The UAE and Saudi Arabia are not named in any of them.
Limits: if your business is in the Gulf, you may not have access at all. If you do, you only see opted-in creators.
5. Google search operators
Google indexes public Instagram and TikTok profiles, and operators let you search bios directly. It is underrated and fast.
- site:instagram.com "Dubai" "beauty" "UGC" finds profiles whose bio mentions all three.
- site:instagram.com "Riyadh" "content creator" "@gmail.com" surfaces creators who list an email.
- site:tiktok.com "UGC creator" "Saudi" finds TikTok profiles with UGC in the bio.
- site:instagram.com "صانعة محتوى" "الرياض" runs the same search in Arabic (female content creator, Riyadh).
Limits: results lag behind real profiles, follower counts in snippets are often old, and you still need to open and check every account.
6. ChatGPT and other AI assistants
AI assistants are good at the thinking around search: niche ideas, Arabic and English keyword lists, Google operators, brief drafts and outreach emails. Our guide to finding influencers with ChatGPT and AI has prompts that work.
Limits: they invent handles, follower counts and engagement rates that look real. Some suggested accounts do not exist, and some belong to a different person. Use AI to generate leads and search terms, then open every profile yourself.
7. Free plans and trials of paid tools
Several paid discovery tools let you try before you pay. What we found on their own pricing pages in October 2026:
- Heepsy has a real free plan at $0 with no card: 500 search results and 10 advanced profiles per month, one project, and its search filters. Paid plans start at $69 per month billed annually or $89 monthly.
- Modash has no free plan but offers a 14-day free trial with no credit card: open up to 20 profiles, get 6 creator emails and track 10 creators. Essentials is $199 per month billed yearly or $299 monthly.
- Favikon has no free plan for brands. Its Core and Pro plans offer a 7-day trial, and Core starts from $159 per month.
Limits: free allowances cover one small shortlist, not a campaign. Global databases are indexed from public profiles, so MENA audience data can be polluted by diaspora and global fan bases. Our roundup of the best influencer discovery software compares the paid side in detail.
8. Hypein's 7-day free trial (no card)
Hypein offers a 7-day free trial with no card required at app.hypein.me. You search verified creators by platform, niche, city and audience country, open creator profiles with audience and engagement data, and run AI analyses of a creator. Every creator applied and was reviewed by a person before being listed, so the trial shows you checked MENA creators rather than auto-indexed profiles. After the trial, paid plans start at $99 per month (Starter, 150 opened profiles).
Free method vs time vs what is missing
| Task | Free method | Time it takes (typical) | What is missing |
|---|---|---|---|
| Find 50 candidate names in a niche | Instagram and TikTok search, Google operators | 2 to 3 hours | Follower range filters, audience country |
| Check audience country | Ask the creator for an Insights screenshot | 1 to 3 days of back and forth | Independent data; screenshots can be edited |
| Spot fake followers | Read comments, compare views to followers by hand | 10 to 15 minutes per creator | Follower quality score, growth history |
| Estimate engagement rate | Spreadsheet from the last 12 posts | 5 to 10 minutes per creator | Benchmarks by niche and country |
| Get a working email | Bio, Linktree, Google "@gmail.com" search | 5 minutes per creator, often no result | Verified contact details |
| Generate ideas and keywords | ChatGPT or another AI assistant | 15 minutes | Real, checked handles and stats |
| Test a paid tool | Heepsy free plan, Modash or Hypein trial | 1 to 2 hours | Enough volume for a full campaign |
What is the hidden cost of free?
Hours per shortlist
Add the rows up. Finding 50 names, checking 20 properly and getting emails for 15 is a working day or more in the ranges we see. If a marketer costs your business $30 to $60 an hour, one free shortlist costs $250 to $700 in time. Do that twice a month and you have paid for a mid-tier tool without getting one.
Manual vetting misses things
Bought followers, engagement pods and recycled giveaway audiences are hard to see from a profile page. A creator with 80,000 followers and 40 generic comments per post can look fine at a glance. Our fake-follower vetting guide lists the manual checks, but each one takes time per creator.
Wrong audience country in MENA
This is the most expensive mistake in the region. A Dubai-based creator can have most of their audience in Egypt, India or Europe. A Saudi creator's numbers can be inflated by followers from other Arab countries. Free tools show you where the creator lives, not where the audience lives. If you sell only in the UAE or Saudi Arabia, a creator with the wrong audience country wastes the whole fee. Our guide to finding UGC creators in Saudi Arabia covers this for the Saudi market specifically.
No record of what you did
Free methods leave you with a spreadsheet, a few DMs and an inbox. When a teammate takes over, the history of who you contacted, what they quoted and what they posted lives in someone's phone.
When is it worth paying?
Use these rules. If two or more apply, a paid tool is usually cheaper than your time.
- You need more than one shortlist a month. Free methods do not scale past a single small campaign.
- Audience country decides the result. Gulf-only, Saudi-only or Arabic-speaking audiences need data you cannot get for free.
- You contact more than 20 creators per campaign. Finding emails by hand becomes the bottleneck.
- One wrong creator costs more than a month of software. A SAR 7,000 to 30,000 mid-tier fee with the wrong audience is a bigger loss than any subscription.
- You run several brands or clients. Agencies need shared workspaces and a record of every contact.
- You need to track posts and clicks. Collecting posts and building tracking links by hand is slow and error-prone.
Stay free if you run one small campaign a quarter, you already know the creators in your niche, or you are testing whether influencer marketing works for you at all. Before you pay, read our checklist for choosing influencer marketing software and our comparison of an indexed influencer database vs a verified creator network.
Frequently asked questions
Is there a completely free influencer search tool?
Yes. Instagram search, TikTok search and Google search operators cost nothing, and Heepsy has a $0 plan with 500 search results and 10 advanced profiles per month (as listed on its pricing page in October 2026). What free methods do not give you is reliable audience country data, a fake-follower check and verified contact details, so you pay in hours instead of money.
Can I use the Instagram or Meta creator marketplace for free in the UAE or Saudi Arabia?
Probably not yet. Meta's own announcements list the US, then Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the UK, Japan, India and Brazil in February 2024 and ten more countries in May 2024. The UAE and Saudi Arabia are not named. Check Meta Business Suite for your account before planning around it.
Is TikTok One free for brands?
TikTok One replaced the TikTok Creator Marketplace in April 2025 and is reached through a TikTok for Business login. TikTok's help pages say availability depends on whether TikTok One has launched in a country or region, and they do not publish a full country list or price for search, so check with your own account.
Can ChatGPT find influencers for free?
It can suggest search terms, niches and outreach drafts, and tools with web browsing can surface public profiles. It also invents handles and follower counts that look real. Treat every name it gives you as a lead to open and check by hand, never as a verified shortlist.
When is it worth paying for an influencer search tool?
Pay when you need more than one shortlist a month, when audience country matters (for example a Saudi or UAE campaign), when you need contact details at scale, or when a wrong creator would cost more than a month of software. If you run one small campaign a quarter, free methods plus a trial are usually enough.
